How Do U Drive A Sailboat I Have A 1979 Bayliner Buccaneer Sailboat And My Rudder Has Alot Of Play. I Was Wondering How To Fix This?

I have a 1979 Bayliner Buccaneer sailboat and my rudder has alot of play. I was wondering how to fix this? - how do u drive a sailboat

There is a boat-bar driven at the helm and leads through a tube through the fuselage and floor of the boat. I can not find any manuals or something of the way the rudder is to be maintained to help.
